Lucy Parsons Lucy Parsons, a British Horse Society-certified instructor, uses her extensive training to successfully prepare both horses and riders for competition. Her students regularly compete in recognized dressage competitions, horse trials and hunter shows, where they are known for their excellent equitation and polished appearance. Ms. Parsons has coached many riders to such year-end finals as the IHSA Regional Hunter Finals and USDF Region I and Region III finals, including the Colonel Bengt Ljungquist Memorial Finals from 2003 to 2007. In addition to completing nine British Horse Society certificates, Ms. Parsons is an honors graduate of Westmoreland-Davis Equestrian Institute (at what is now the Morven Park International Equestrian Center in Leesburg, VA), directed by Olympic Gold Medalist Tad Coffin and Raul deLeon. She also had the opportunity to serve as a participating instructor/rider in the Violet Hopkins National Dressage Instructors Seminar in Michigan (This seminar laid the foundation for the USDF Dressage Instructors Certification Program.) Ms. Parsons was also Director of the Averett College Equestrian Studies Department for six years. She continues to develop her skills as a rider, trainer and instructor; among the well-known trainers she has studied under are Karl Mikolka, Captain Andrew deSzinay, Gunner Ostergard and Colonel Bengt Ljungquist.
